The Duck Pond neighborhood was extremely beautiful. Small historic areas such as Duck Pond are extremely vital to a cities identity and thus the identity of its people, especially the people who's lineage has been in the city for generations. It was a neighborhood full of old houses and quaint areas. There were a lot of houses that have porches and columns, there is also some presidential candidate signage that dots some yards and cars. The neighborhood is definitely well off as far as income and social class.

The neighbors also seem friendly with each other, the few people that I saw were engaging in conversation for quite sometime.

One can think and enjoy themselves at a neighborhood like this one. There was not much traffic flow and I did not see many people around, however, you can understand why Gainesville is so proud of this area by simply taking a glimpse. It is well maintained and beautiful and plays a vital role within the community. It provides a sense of identity for the citizens, it shows them the way the city looked before they were in the picture, it allows them to have a better understanding of the city that they the were born and raised in.As discussed identity is a vital importance to ones steps toward attaining the good life and the Duck Pond neighborhood gives people a piece of that identity that they seek.
